Due to unfavorable weather conditions, specifically strong waves, the "Punta del Hidalgo - Bajamar" swim has been canceled for the third time this summer, and participants will be refunded their registration fees.

The "Punta del Hidalgo - Bajamar" swim will likely not take place this year. The competition was scheduled for this Saturday, August 30, but it has been canceled due to the weather.

This is the third time this summer that the swim has been canceled, and always due to weather warnings. It was originally planned for July 26, but then there was extreme heat, and the highest level of danger was announced due to the high temperature. Therefore, it was postponed to August 9.

But even then, the heat prevented the competition from taking place. So the organizers, together with the La Laguna City Hall, decided to move everything to this Saturday. And now again – this time the waves got in the way.

According to the sports department of the La Laguna City Hall, "due to strong waves at the starting point, near the finish line and on the route itself, it is impossible to hold the Bajamar – La Punta swim."

The decision was made after the "water safety service" held a meeting at 12:00 and, together with the GEAS rescuers, "did not recommend holding the competition due to difficult sea conditions."

It turned out that the conditions were "worse than predicted for Thursday and Friday," and "no improvement is expected during the day," Deporte Lagunero added. All participants are promised a refund for registration.
