Yellow flag on Valleseco beach: swimming allowed with caution

Bathing is permitted with caution at El Bloque beach in Valleseco due to a small oily patch, although the neighboring Los Charcos beach is open without restrictions.

Attention! Today, swimming is allowed at El Bloque beach in Valleseco, but with caution – a yellow flag is flying. The Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council has reported that a small oily stain has been spotted in the water.

This is just a precaution; the Canary Islands Ministry of Health has not issued any prohibitions.

Environmentalists and sanitary services already took water samples on Monday and sent them for testing to a laboratory in Tenerife. If the water quality does not meet the standards, we will be notified immediately.

Yesterday the situation was different: rescuers saw garbage, stains, and dead fish in the water, so they raised a red flag and temporarily banned swimming.

The city authorities remind that sometimes, due to the weather, similar things may appear on the coast. Therefore, to keep you safe, a red flag is raised until the water is tested.

But at the neighboring Los Charcos beach, everything is fine – there is a green flag, and you can swim without any problems.

The City Council regularly checks the water at various beaches, such as Valleseco, San Andrés, and Las Gaviotas. For news about the condition of the beaches, check the official websites and social networks.
