In the Canary Islands, three cultural values will be protected: crafts, houses, and games.
The Council for Historical Heritage of the Canary Islands has declared the technique of making rosettes, the Casa Torres house, and the traditional Garrote game as cultural heritage requiring protection.
The Council for Cultural Heritage of the Canary Islands has decided that three things on the island of Gran Canaria have special cultural value and need protection. These are:
- The technique of making rosettes (a type of handicraft). It is important for culture, crafts, people, and the economy. It has been particularly well preserved on the islands of Tenerife and Lanzarote.
- Casa Torres, a house built in the 18th century. It is a typical example of an old urban building. It is located in the town of Villa de Teguise on Lanzarote. It is now an official landmark.
- The traditional Garrote game on the island of Gran Canaria. It is like a local pastime or sport, and it is also important for preserving culture.
