Vilaflor de Chasna will seek geothermal energy with 8 million euros.
Vilaflor de Chasna plans a geothermal exploration with drilling of wells for 8 million euros, requesting the opinion of local residents.
The town of Vilaflor de Chasna is planning to investigate whether there is geothermal energy. The company Energía Geotérmica de Canarias S.L.U. wants to conduct exploration: drill wells and see what is underground. To do this, they need permission from the local authorities.
The town council is now asking for people's opinions: if you have any objections or suggestions, you can submit them within 20 working days.
What exactly are they planning to do? First, they studied the area and selected 10 points where drilling is possible. The work will be done gradually. First, they will prepare the roads, then drill the wells, and when everything is finished, they will clean up after themselves and return everything to its original state.
It is said that all this will take about 4 months. It is important that this is only exploration, not the construction of a power plant. After the exploration, everything will be returned to its original state.
In addition to drilling, two temporary pools will be made to collect the liquid and mud that are formed during drilling. The pools will be large – 710 cubic meters each, and made so that nothing leaks.
Two small pits will also be made for drilling. The road to the work site will be slightly filled with gravel to make it easier for trucks to drive and to prevent dust. You will need to drive from the TF-51 road (14.674 km) via Camino de Trevejos. Of the 836 meters of road, 630 meters will need to be repaired.
There are no communications in the place where they plan to drill: no water, no sewerage, no electricity, no telephones.
It is planned to spend €8,049,084.26 on all of this.
