Tenerife grandly celebrated Animal Day and Pisaca Fest.
The center of Tenerife hosted the celebration of Animal Day and the Pisaca Fest festival, attracting a large number of visitors and offering entertainment for the whole family.
Yesterday was a real celebration in the center of the capital of Tenerife! There were two events for the whole family, and a lot of people gathered.
Animal Day, organized by the Santa Cruz de Tenerife City Council, was celebrated in the Plaza del Príncipe. And not far away, in the El Toscal area, the Pisaca Fest festival took place.
The City Council says that Animal Day, which was organized jointly with various organizations and sponsored by veterinarians, was a "great success". There were many visitors, and everyone was satisfied. The city authorities emphasize that they are doing everything to make the city comfortable for animals.
Guests could watch a parade of pets, adopt an animal from a shelter, and watch dog training by police dog handlers. There were also master classes where they taught how to properly walk dogs and cook cookies for them. Children had face painting, and experts talked about responsible attitude to animals, trade in exotic species, and cat colonies.
The mayor of the city, José Manuel Bermúdez, was very happy about this holiday. He said that respect for animals is important, and the city is doing everything for their comfort. More than 45,000 dogs are registered in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, and 15 special zones have been equipped for them.
Carlos Tarife, Councilor for Municipal Affairs, noted that Animal Day has been celebrated since 2014, but this time everything went even better than expected. He also reminded that the authorities are working to improve conditions for animals, in particular, they plan to equip a place for swimming with dogs on Las Gaviotas beach. And he added that those who do not take good care of their pets will be fined.
Meanwhile, Pisaca Fest, organized by the City Council and the local association with the support of various organizations, was celebrated for the second day in El Toscal.
There was a lot of entertainment for children: performances of "The Lion King", a show by the clown Canita, as well as musical performances by the bands Almas de Goma, Sureto, La Cagaste Burt Lancaster (Hombres G tribute) and Agua del Chorro and Hydra 2.0.
The Councilor of the Central District, Purificación Dávila, said that the Pisaca Joven Fest festival on Friday and the large number of visitors on Saturday are the result of joint work with the local association. She is proud that young people can have a good time, and the holiday in El Toscal united all residents of the district.
