School in Spain: children are suffering from the heat, but the authorities are ignoring requests for fans
At the Spanish school Playa de Las Américas, students are forced to study in unbearable heat due to the inaction of local authorities, who have been ignoring parents' requests to install fans for a year.
Parents of students at the Playa de Las Américas school are very outraged: the heat in the classrooms is unbearable, over 45 degrees! They have been asking the Arona City Council and the company responsible for electricity in schools to install fans for a year, but nothing has changed.
They say that it is hell in the classrooms from 10 a.m., and it is impossible for children to study. And the promised fans are still "in the process of paperwork." Parents have already complained to the education official, but nothing has changed yet. The new school year has started again without fans, the El Sol de Las Américas parents' association complains.
Parents believe that this is a violation of their children's rights to normal education and health care. They refer to the Spanish Constitution and other laws that guarantee these rights.
They say that the company that was supposed to install the fans came to the school for two months, but did nothing, because, they said, they were very busy installing Christmas lights. And then it stopped answering calls altogether and did not provide any report or estimate.
Parents have been sounding the alarm for several years, but the problem is not being solved. They believe that this is not just bureaucracy, but a matter of the health and rights of their children. They expect the city authorities to finally act as responsibly as the taxpayers of Arona. Parents are very disappointed that the authorities are not responding to their requests. They have done everything they can, but the children continue to suffer from the heat.
Therefore, the parents' association demands that the Arona City Council clearly state when the fans will finally be installed, and check whether the company that was supposed to do this is working well. And if not, find another company that can do everything quickly.
Last year, parents, teachers and students even organized a charity run to raise money for fans, because the city authorities did nothing. This showed how much they all want the school to be comfortable to study in.
But the Arona City Council has not yet responded to the parents' criticism.
