The 43rd City Open Tennis Tournament was presented in La Laguna on Tuesday. It is one of the oldest tournaments in Tenerife, attracting the best tennis players from the Canary Islands.
The competition starts tomorrow, Thursday, October 9, and will last until Saturday, October 18. The games will be held at the Casa de Venezuela en Canarias.
The presentation was attended by important people from the sports field: the president of the sports organization, Badel Albelo, the representative of the tennis federation, Candela Garrido, the director of the tournament, Enrique Baez, and the famous tennis player David Marrero, who will also participate in the tournament.
This year, a record number of players will participate in the tournament – 69! These are tennis players from all the Canary Islands who will compete for the main prize.
Speaking of prizes, the winners of the 43rd Open Tournament will receive a total of 6,000 euros. This is one of the tournaments with the largest prize pool in Tenerife. The distribution is as follows: 1,000 euros for first place, 500 euros for second place, 250 euros for semi-finalists, 125 euros for quarter-finalists, and a little more than 60 euros for participants in the 1/8 finals. And importantly, the prizes will be the same for both women and men.
