In Santa Cruz, the city council has approved construction in the Barranco Grande area, which will include new streets, parking lots, and solutions to humidity problems, at a cost of almost 555,000 euros.
In Santa Cruz, the city council yesterday gave the green light to construction in the Barranco Grande area. There, in a locality called El Lomo, they will undertake the SUROESTE 10 La Monja plot.
The company Geocan will do everything in four months. The cost of the work is almost 555 thousand euros. They plan to start in the last months of this year.
This project has been awaited since 2022. It was put up for auction in June as part of the Suroeste Avanza program. Initially, they planned to spend 616,826 euros, but as a result, they agreed on an amount 62,000 less.
What will be done? New streets will appear, more parking spaces. And also – they will solve the problem with water leakage and dampness in the houses that are next to this area.
The mayor of the city, José Manuel Bermúdez, said that this is important for the residents of the area. They will have normal sidewalks, and the area will be fenced off so that it is clean and tidy. He added that this is another step towards the development of this part of the city.
The advisor on construction issues, Javier Rivero, emphasized that the authorities want this territory to be properly equipped. So that there is no garbage, but all the necessary communications.
He also noted that La Monja is one of the few places where the land is fully owned by the city. Therefore, everything can be done without problems and without affecting private interests. After construction, new streets will appear there, which will also belong to the city. Although the area is already built up, there is a lack of places for recreation. Therefore, after talking with local residents, they decided to make a parking lot and a place where people can gather.
In general, they plan to conduct water, sewerage, provide lighting, conduct telecommunications and green the territory. All this is to ensure that new houses appear and infrastructure improves. The works will include Primera La Monja Street, as well as a new road that will lead to La Monja.
