In El Rosario, Spain, the renovated Tabayba coastline, worth over 2.1 million euros, has been opened, including recreational facilities and protection against storms.

Important news for Tabayba! Major changes have taken place in the coastal area of El Rosario. Local authorities, together with environmentalists, have opened the renovated coastline.

Instead of the former earthen rampart, there are now comfortable sunbathing areas, showers, toilets, and new access points to the sea. More than 2.1 million euros were spent on this project.

The Mayor of Rosario, Escolástico Gil, said at the opening: "This is a very important day for everyone who lives here or comes here often. Tabayba has been neglected for a long time, but now we can proudly say that this renovated coastline is a wonderful gift for our residents."

Gil, who has been in office since 2015, has implemented many important projects, including thanks to his ability to raise funds. These include the House of Culture, water tanks, a treatment plant, and the reconstruction of the historical center. And the renovated Tabayba coastline is one of the most important pearls on this list.

Gil emphasized how this place has changed: "Previously, there was a dirty earthen rampart here, which covered buildings and businesses with dust. Now it is a modern public space. In addition, we plan to complete the arrangement of the filling system for the popular Tabayba puddle, so that it can be enjoyed all year round, regardless of the tides."

The opening was attended by representatives of the Government of the Canary Islands, including Mariano Hernández Zapata, Javier Plata, and Lope Afonso, as well as many local residents.

Zapata noted that the embankment was often destroyed by storms, and stressed that the renovation will help protect the coast from future damage caused by climate change.

According to Zapata, the project also includes improving access to the sea and creating a garden with local plants, which will have a positive impact on the environment.

The head of works, Javier Martínez, said that there used to be a parking lot in this place, which almost no one used. He also mentioned that there was a project to improve this area, but it was never implemented. Then the local authorities proposed their own project, which was approved with certain conditions, such as the use of only mobile elements.

The project started at the end of 2023. Mayor Gil admitted that the road to implementation was not easy. He also said that he likes to swim in Tabayba and recalled walking here as a child.

Gil thanked the Government of the Canary Islands for its financial support and other officials for their assistance in implementing the project.

Gil is currently concerned about the marking from La Nea beach to Varadero to prevent accidents between swimmers and boats. He called for this issue to be resolved as soon as possible to avoid possible tragedies.
