
A film about the surrealist Oscar Domínguez and his connection to Picasso will be shown in Malaga.
In Malaga, the film "Oscar, a Surreal Passion" about the life of the artist Oscar Domínguez will be shown, accompanying an exhibition of his works at the Picasso Museum.
On Thursday, September 18, the film "Óscar. Una pasión surrealista" (Oscar, a surreal passion) will be screened at the Albéniz Cinema in Malaga. It tells the story of the life of the artist Óscar Domínguez, who was born in Tenerife but spent most of his life in Paris. Domínguez was a friend of Pablo Picasso and died in exile in France in 1957.
The film was directed by Lucas Fernández from the Canary Islands. It is being shown as part of an exhibition of Domínguez's work at the Picasso Museum in Malaga. The exhibition features around 120 works by the artist from various museums and private collections. These include paintings from the TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes museum, the Reina Sofía National Art Centre Museum in Madrid, and others. The exhibition will run until October 13.
The exhibition is curated by Isidro Hernández, who works at TEA Tenerife. He has brought together works that show how diverse Domínguez was throughout his career.

The film will be screened at 8:30 pm in Hall 3 of the Albéniz Cinema in the centre of Malaga. Admission is free, but seating is limited. After the screening, there will be a discussion on the theme "Art as exile, Paris as refuge". It will be attended by the film's director, Lucas Fernández, curator Emilio Ramal, and other experts on the work of Picasso and Domínguez.
