The spectacular scenes from "Fast & Furious 6", including the attack on the convoy, were filmed in Tenerife, where the team saved millions thanks to tax breaks.

Remember the cool "Fast & Furious 6" that came out back in 2013? Well, many of the spectacular scenes were filmed not just anywhere, but in Tenerife!

Filming for this part of "Fast & Furious" lasted from July to December 2012 around the world. And in October, the team moved to the Canary Islands. Initially, they planned to film in France, in Marseille, but then they learned about the favorable tax breaks in the Canary Islands and saved about $20 million.

The most memorable scene on the island is the attack on the military convoy. It was filmed on the TF-1 highway near Adeje, on two sections of the new road, 5 and 10 kilometers long.

According to the plot, Owen Shaw and his gang attack the convoy, and Dom (Vin Diesel), Brian (Paul Walker), and other team members try to stop them in a furious chase.

They even made a special tank for the filming! It was lighter than a real one, but with movable turrets. This "beast" could accelerate to 113 kilometers per hour and fired black powder, smashing real cars. Therefore, special effects were hardly needed – everything looked very realistic.

In addition to Adeje, filming took place in Guía de Isora, Santiago del Teide, San Juan de la Rambla, Garachico, Icod de los Vinos, and Buenavista del Norte.

For example, the road between Buenavista and Punta de Teno (TF-445) was used to film the chase along the coast. And the Punta de Teno tunnel and the surroundings of Garachico became the scenery for other episodes.

In the north of the island, many roads and landscapes were transformed into other locations according to the plot. It was convenient for the film crew that some sections were closed to traffic – they could work freely and safely.

According to the Tenerife Film Commission, the "Las Cañas" banana plantation near San Juan de la Rambla was transformed into Brian O'Connor's (Paul Walker) house.

And Garachico became the base for technical support and a place for various organizational issues during filming.

The only thing that was done with computer graphics was the jump when Dom saves Letty (Michelle Rodriguez) in the air from his Dodge Daytona.

This scene turned out so unrealistic that it became a viral meme. Especially after the parody from the Peruvian web series Los cinéfilos. There, actor Manuel Gold played in a sketch called "The Worst Day of My Life" and complained about the film with subtitles and dubbing in Spanish. This parody spread across social networks and is forever associated with this famous scene from "Fast & Furious 6", which was filmed by Justin Lin.
