Construction has begun in Candelaria on a new, modern auditorium with 500 seats, costing 8.4 million euros, which will become a long-awaited space for local creative groups.

The town of Candelaria is buzzing with activity: a new large auditorium is being built there! For almost two months now, construction equipment has been operating on Los Menceyes Avenue, on the site of the old bus station (which was partially demolished).

This important project is being handled by Bilba Construcción e Infraestructuras, SLU. More than 8.4 million euros will be invested in the construction. If all goes according to plan, local musicians, artists and other creative groups will have a long-awaited venue for performances and rehearsals as early as the summer of 2027.

The construction is being financed jointly: 80% is provided by the local government (Cabildo), and the remaining 20% by the Municipality of Candelaria.

The auditorium will have a large hall for 500 spectators, a stage and everything necessary for performances. This will be a significant step forward, as the city currently does not have a single indoor space that can accommodate more than 150 people. And there are many different creative groups in Candelaria, especially musical ones, involving hundreds of people. They have long dreamed of a normal place to rehearse.

In addition to a large hall, stage and dressing rooms, the auditorium will include: a music room (with six separate instrument rooms), three classrooms for music and dance, a library, a multi-purpose room, a percussion room and administrative premises.

The building will also have changing rooms, dressing rooms, a rehearsal room and parking with access from Crugiola Street.

Local authorities emphasize that the new cultural center will be modern and multifunctional. It will be possible to hold various events here: concerts, theatrical performances, dance shows, film screenings, educational programs, rehearsals and much more.

"This is a much-needed facility that our creative teams and all residents of the city have been waiting for a long time," says Mayor Mari Brito. She also adds that the local authorities are working with musicians and artists to ensure that the new building meets their needs as much as possible.
