Motorsport will be the main theme of the ExpoDeca 2025 exhibition in the Canary Islands.
Ahead of the opening of the ExpoDeca 2025 exhibition, the organizers presented a program of events dedicated to motorsport, which this year will occupy the largest area at the fair.
A day before the opening of the ExpoDeca 2025 exhibition, on Wednesday, the organizers held the final presentation. Poli Suárez, Councilor for Education, Sports, and Vocational Training, together with the Vice President of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Lope Afonso, and the President of the Canarian Federation of Motorsports, Miguel Ángel Domínguez, spoke about the motorsport-related activities that will take place at the fair.
This year, motorsport will occupy the largest area at the exhibition. The main organizations and competition organizers from across the archipelago will be represented there. The Santa Cruz de Tenerife Motorsports Federation will be the main organizer, emphasizing the importance of the island for the development of this sport.
Poli Suárez noted that "motorsport is very popular in our lands, so its participation in ExpoDeca is important." He added that this year the organizers tried to show "all the diversity and strength of this sport in our islands," which is why special attention is paid to motorsport.
The councilor also explained that these sports are important not only as entertainment. "It's also about economics and tourism. Competitions such as the Canary Islands Rally or the Villa de Adeje Rally are included in the national and international calendars," he said. "We have something to be proud of, and we want all the Canary Islands to feel represented here."
Lope Afonso, Vice President of the Cabildo of Tenerife, emphasized that "motorsport is a great passion on the island and throughout the archipelago. Therefore, ExpoDeca 2025 gives it a well-deserved place at the fair, which is becoming an important sporting event in the Canary Islands."
"We at the Cabildo of Tenerife support those sports that benefit not only sports but also society and the economy, as is the case with motorsport. This is an activity that develops the territory, creates jobs, and attracts tourists. I am sure that this space will be one of the most popular among visitors," added Afonso.
The ExpoDeca program will feature well-known Canary Islands competitions such as Subida de Los Loros, the Canary Islands Rally (world-class), Rallye Villa de Adeje, Rallye Isla de los Volcanes, and Eco-Rally Canarias. Thanks to this, all the islands will be represented at this important sporting event.
During the four days of the fair, the stand organized by the FCA will host meetings with well-known drivers and co-drivers from the region, the country, and the world. They will participate in autograph sessions, conferences, round tables, and reports on important issues for motorsport: the role of women, the development of specialized communication, and other interesting topics.
Visitors will be able to try out racing simulators, watch videos, listen to live broadcasts of radio and television programs, as well as receive gifts and participate in interactive activities. The Canarian Federation of Motorsports strives to bring motorsport closer to the people, involve everyone who wants to, and promote the development of this sport in the Canary Islands.
After the presentation, government officials inspected the stands dedicated to motorsport and took pictures with the volunteers who will be working at ExpoDeca. Poli Suárez and Lope Afonso thanked them for their work and dedication to the fair.
ExpoDeca is organized by the Government of the Canary Islands through the Sports Council and the sports area of the Cabildo of Tenerife, together with the state-owned company Ideco. The sponsors are the Disa Foundation, Coca-Cola, Powerade, Binter, and Grupo Ybarra. The main goal is to promote an active and healthy lifestyle, encouraging physical activity as a way to improve well-being and community cohesion.
The Vice President of the Government of the Canary Islands, Manuel Domínguez, Councilor Poli Suárez, the President of the Cabildo of Tenerife, Rosa Dávila, and the Mayor of Santa Cruz, José Manuel Bermúdez, will open ExpoDeca today at 12:30. Other government officials will also be present at the ceremony, including Ángel Sabroso, Deputy Councilor for Sports, and José Francisco Pérez and Lorena Hernández, General Directors for Sports and Indigenous Sports, as well as the Vice President of the Cabildo, Lope Afonso.
