El Fraile Hospital Gets Air Conditioners After Protests Over Heat
Following protests about the lack of air conditioning, the promised equipment was delivered to the El Fraile hospital, with installation scheduled for Monday.
Last week, doctors and nurses at El Fraile Hospital protested because there was no air conditioning in the offices. And now, finally, the promised equipment was delivered yesterday! Installation is scheduled for Monday.
Because the air conditioners were delivered, yesterday's protest was canceled. Medics are already exhausted from the heat and hope that their suffering will end on Monday.
Some of the employees bring their own fans to work, but this is not enough to escape the August heat. The situation is further complicated by the fact that doctors and nurses are overwhelmed with work. "We can't even take a break because there are so many patients. We receive more than 40 people every day! This cannot continue, we are exhausted, and this violates the labor protection law," the doctors complain. They are also outraged by the "negligence" of the Canary Health Service, because "no one even explained what is happening."
