Tenerife Weekend Calendar Blends Traditional Festivals with Award-Winning Cinema

Tenerife’s weekend calendar is more diverse than ever, blending local traditions with world-class cinema. The island’s latest schedule highlights a mix of religious celebrations, community festivals, and award-winning films.

For movie lovers, the Tenerife Arts Space (TEA) is screening Nino, the acclaimed debut feature by director Pauline Loquès. Shown in its original language with subtitles, the film has earned major praise, including César awards for Best First Feature and Best New Actor, along with a top performance award at the 2025 Cannes Critics' Week. It tells the moving story of a young man navigating personal growth following a serious medical diagnosis.

Across the island, several towns are hosting patron saint festivities. Candelaria’s main events include religious services, military parades, and a floral offering, wrapping up on Sunday with a performance by Los Sabandeños titled Cantándole a Hispanoamérica.
