Tenerife's Cabildo unveiled its "most socially focused budget ever," a 21% increase over the previous government's, prioritizing social policies, housing, mobility, and environment to transform the island by 2025.

Tenerife's local government, the Cabildo, has set ambitious goals: to transform the island by 2025 and solidify Tenerife's leading role by 2026. The Cabildo has unveiled what it calls its "most socially focused budget ever." This budget, the third largest among local governments nationwide, also prioritizes improving mobility and protecting the environment.

Island president Rosa Dávila praised the decision to bypass the usual spending rules. This allows the government to maintain investment levels from the previous year, with an estimated 257 million euros allocated. Dávila highlighted that this budget prioritizes balance and stability. She presented it alongside Vice President Lope Afonso (PP), the heads of the 16 other departments, and the island directors, all gathered in the Salón Noble.

Dávila and Afonso divided the budget into six main categories. They pointed out that this budget is 21% larger – an increase of 80 million euros – compared to the last budget from the PSOE government in 2023. They noted that 417 million euros are allocated to social policies, which is 17% more than the previous budget. A record 15.2 million euros has been set aside for housing, marking a 48% increase from last year and a 97% increase compared to the socialist government's term (2019-2023).
