Tenerife Tram Lines 1 & 2 Disrupted for Weekend Maintenance
Tenerife Tram Lines 1 and 2 will undergo service changes from January 31 to February 2 due to essential maintenance, resulting in a reduced Line 1 service with replacement buses and the complete suspension of Line 2.
Tenerife Tram Lines 1 and 2 will see changes to their service this weekend due to essential maintenance work. The Santa Cruz City Council's Mobility department announced these alterations, which are part of Metrotenerife's ongoing preventive maintenance plan.
From Saturday, January 31, until Monday, February 2, Line 1 will run a reduced service, and Line 2 will be completely suspended.
Line 1 will only operate between the Intercambiador and Chimisay stops. To cover the rest of the route, from Chimisay to La Trinidad, a replacement bus service will be provided by Titsa. Please note that Line 1's weekend night service will not run during this time. Line 2 will not operate at all.
The replacement buses will stop near each of the tram stations that are out of service. This work, which began in December, involves adapting parts of the tram platform to allow for tracks to be replaced and repositioned.
Maintenance will focus on sections including the Taco, Hospital, and Padre Anchieta tunnels. This continuous track work means trams cannot run safely. The service disruption will begin at 7:00 AM on Saturday, January 31, and end at midnight on Monday, February 2.
Metrotenerife expects work to finish by Monday night, February 2. Full tram service, including regular schedules, will resume across the entire network on Tuesday, February 3. For the latest updates, passengers can visit www.metrotenerife.com, call customer service at 922 099 119, or check their social media channels (Facebook, Instagram, and X) by searching for @tranviatenerife.
Separately, Titsa, the urban transport provider in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, will add more seats to its Line 014 service between Santa Cruz and La Laguna on Saturday night and Sunday morning. These additional services will follow similar night schedules.
