Tenerife to Host Second Edition of Quirino Lab Focused on Animation Industry Growth
Tenerife will host the second edition of the Quirino Lab from October 7 to 10, gathering international animation executives to address industry challenges and strengthen the island's role as a strategic production hub.
Tenerife is set to host the second edition of the Quirino Lab from October 7 to 10 at Lago Martiánez in Puerto de la Cruz. This strategic meeting aims to strengthen the island’s position as a key hub for executive production in the Spanish and Portuguese-speaking animation industry.
Supported by the Tenerife Island Council, the Tenerife Film Commission, and the Puerto de la Cruz City Council, the event moves beyond traditional academic formats. Under the theme "Leading the future of animation," the forum will bring together 20 selected professionals from 23 countries to share business strategies and models. The animation sector is a vital part of the local economy, contributing 19 million euros to Tenerife in 2024—nearly a third of the island's total audiovisual revenue.
The lab will focus on five key industry challenges: digital audience fragmentation, strategic leadership, diversifying revenue, managing intellectual property, and integrating artificial intelligence. Experts from companies like Claynosaurz, Nexus Studios, Magnific, and WLFG Consulting—including Nic Cabana, Lucas Arechaga, Marcin Sobczak, Garry Yankson, Uttariyo Saha, and Diego Rosner—will lead the discussions.
New this year, facilitators Paloma Aragón and Alby Ojeda will lead two immersive sessions designed to help participants exchange best practices. Applications for the lab are open until July 29 via the official event website. Tenerife has served as the permanent home of the Quirino Awards since 2018.
