Tenerife to Host 'Renacer' Fair to Support Cancer Patients Beyond Clinical Care
Journalist Yaiza Díaz has launched "Renacer Tenerife," a pioneering support event taking place from September 25 to 27 at the Tenerife Exhibition Center, designed to provide holistic, multidisciplinary resources for cancer patients and their families.
A cancer diagnosis changes more than just a person’s physical health; it often disrupts their social and emotional life. While public healthcare provides excellent medical treatment, it cannot always address these broader needs.
Following her own battle with aggressive breast cancer last year, journalist Yaiza Díaz has launched "Renacer Tenerife" to help bridge this gap. This pioneering event, designed as a support network for patients and their families, will take place at the Tenerife Exhibition Center from September 25 to 27.
Developed in collaboration with Pyranthus Projects, the event moves beyond a strictly clinical focus to offer a multidisciplinary approach to recovery. The fair is free to attend and features over 40 stands showcasing services such as oncological aesthetics, orthopedics, specialized nutrition, and physiotherapy. The organizers emphasize that while conventional medicine remains the essential pillar of treatment, extra support is vital for improving a patient's overall quality of life.
The event addresses a significant issue: every year, there are nearly 300,000 new cancer cases in Spain, including 12,000 in the Canary Islands. To support those affected, the venue will host several themed areas, including the "Stage of Hope," where medical experts will answer questions, and the "Wellness Tatami," which will offer yoga and meditation sessions led by the International Yoga Federation. There will also be a dedicated podcast space and a "Wall of Hope" for public messages.
Supported by the Cabildo de Tenerife, the event aims to bring hospitals, support groups, and professionals together in one place. During the presentation, island authorities Águeda Fumero and Manuel Fernández highlighted the importance of making these resources more accessible. By bringing together services that were previously scattered, the organizers hope to establish a lasting model that places the patient at the heart of public health. The fair will also promote social awareness through blood donation drives and skin cancer prevention campaigns.
