Tenerife to Host International Sports Law Congress
Tenerife will host the 2nd International Sports Law Congress on October 30th, featuring prominent figures in sports, law, and management, including a keynote speech from Albert Rivera and discussions on key issues in sports law.
Get ready for a top-notch event in Tenerife! On October 30th, the Tenerife Auditorium will host the 2nd International Sports Law Congress – Island of Tenerife (CIDD). It's a big deal, bringing together important people from the worlds of sports, law, and management.
This event is the brainchild of Tania Tejeira Perera, a Tenerife lawyer specializing in International Sports Law. Her CIDD project has backing from major organizations, both public and private.
Expect to see some big names in law, including Miguel Lietard-Fernández Palacios from FIFA, Massimo Coccia from the Italian Association of Sports Lawyers, and José Miguel Sampaio e Nora, head of the Portuguese Association of Sports Law.
Their presence confirms Tenerife as a key global hub for Sports Law, especially with experts who deal with cases at the Court of Arbitration for Sport (TAS/CAS). They'll be joined by leaders like Beatriz Álvarez from Liga F Moeve, Reyes Bellver from the RFEF (Women's Football), Lucila Pascua from the Association of Professional Basketball Players, and Yolanda Moliné, Tenerife's Minister of Sports.
In keeping with the CIDD spirit, there will also be current and former athletes. These include footballer Patri Gavira (CD Tenerife Women's captain), ex-basketball star Víctor Claver, former Olympian Vega Gimeno, and Pier Luigi Cherubino, a legendary CD Tenerife striker.
A special guest is Álvaro Benito, ex-Real Madrid player, Pignoise singer, and sports commentator. He'll be part of a panel discussion on athletes transitioning to life after sports, and will also chat live with journalist Manoj Daswani.
Lawyer and former politician Albert Rivera will give a keynote speech called "Leadership: before and after the spotlight," discussing leadership in and out of sports.
The congress will tackle important topics like the structure of Sports Law, how the Canary Islands federations work, major international disputes, FIFA's role in global football, and the growth of women's football and basketball.
The 2nd International Sports Law Congress aims to solidify Tenerife's position as a leading center for sports law education and a regular host for similar events.
The day will wrap up with a networking reception by the sea near the Auditorium, followed by a performance from Canary Islands artist St. Pedro. It's set to be a fantastic blend of law, sports, and culture!
