Tenerife to Hold Memorial Services for Victims of Venezuela Earthquake
The Venezuelan Consulate in Tenerife is hosting two memorial services to honor the victims of the recent earthquake in Caracas and La Guaira and to support the affected Venezuelan community in the Canary Islands.
The recent earthquake in Caracas and La Guaira has left at least 2,300 people dead and over 11,000 injured. The tragedy has been deeply felt in the Canary Islands, where the Venezuelan Consulate has organized two memorial services in Tenerife to support the local Venezuelan community and express solidarity.
The response highlights the strong historical and social ties between the Canary Islands and Venezuela, which have long been connected by migration. Working alongside the Diocese of San Cristóbal de La Laguna, the consulate aims to provide a space for those affected to grieve and reflect.
The first service will be held this Sunday at 7:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of La Laguna, led by Bishop Eloy Santiago. The second will take place on Monday, November 6, at 7:30 p.m. at the Church of Nuestra Señora del Pilar, located at 15 Calle del Pilar in Santa Cruz de Tenerife.
The consulate has invited local authorities, diplomats, Venezuelan citizens, and the general public to attend. These services are intended to honor the victims and offer moral support to the families struggling in the wake of the disaster.
