Tenerife Symphony Partners with Fetén Fetén to Broaden Audience Reach
The Tenerife Symphony is collaborating with duo Fetén Fetén to reach new audiences through an innovative, educational concert series that blends classical music with unconventional instruments.
The Tenerife Symphony is launching a new strategy to reach wider audiences by moving beyond the traditional orchestral concert format. This week, the ensemble will team up with the duo Fetén Fetén for a unique collaboration that blends classical instruments with everyday household items. This project is part of an ongoing effort by the Island Council (Cabildo) to make symphonic music more accessible to everyone.
The Auditorio de Tenerife will host a public performance this Tuesday, May 12, at 7:00 p.m., with tickets priced at just five euros. The show is designed to be both entertaining and educational, featuring unconventional "instruments" like saws and furniture integrated into a modern orchestral performance. The program features original music by Fetén Fetén’s creators, Jorge Arribas and Diego Galaz, alongside traditional themes arranged by Miguel Malla, Ignacio Cantalejo, Diego Galaz, and Pascual Piqueras.
The initiative also has a significant educational focus. On Wednesday, the orchestra will hold two special sessions for nearly 3,000 secondary school students from 39 schools across 14 municipalities. By using humor and creative staging, the Symphony aims to break down the perceived formality of concert halls.
Conductor Ane Legarreta, known for her work with the Navarre Symphony Orchestra and the Euskadiko Orkestra, has emphasized the show’s dynamic nature, which uses constant interaction to keep the audience engaged. Tickets for Tuesday’s performance are available now via the Tenerife Symphony’s website, by phone, or at the venue’s box office.
