The Tenerife Symphony Orchestra will host the world premiere of Òscar Colomina i Bosch’s Wells of Oblivion this Friday, featuring debuts by conductor Ariane Matiakh and violinist Clara-Jumi Kang alongside a series of educational outreach events.

The Tenerife Symphony Orchestra is set for an exciting week, highlighting its dedication to new music and fresh talent. This Friday at 7:30 p.m., the Auditorio de Tenerife will host the world premiere of Wells of Oblivion, a new commission by composer Òscar Colomina i Bosch. Part of his Myths cycle, the piece explores themes of water and memory, further establishing the composer’s growing reputation in Europe.

The concert also marks two major debuts for the orchestra: conductor Ariane Matiakh, who leads the Württembergische Philharmonie Reutlingen, and violinist Clara-Jumi Kang. Kang, a winner of the International Violin Competition of Indianapolis, will perform Sergei Prokofiev’s Violin Concerto No. 2. The program concludes with works by Franz Liszt and Zoltán Kodály, showcasing the orchestra’s connection to the Hungarian musical tradition.

Beyond the main stage, the orchestra is continuing its educational outreach. On Thursday at 8:00 p.m., the University of La Laguna’s Paraninfo will host the latest installment of the A fULL con la Sinfónica series, supported by the DISA Foundation. Art historian Miguel Ángel Cajigal—widely known as 'el Barroquista'—will give a talk on Kodály’s Dances of Galánta, offering a fun and accessible look at the music’s technical side.

To help audiences attend, the orchestra is offering several resources. Tickets are available online, by phone, or at the box office. A free 'Lanzadera Sinfónica' bus service is also available to transport guests to the auditorium, provided they book in advance. Additionally, those interested in learning more about the music can attend pre-concert events on Friday: a talk by Sergio Rodríguez at 6:30 p.m. in the Alisios room, followed by a 'Musical Lookout' session with the guest artists at 6:45 p.m. in the Castillo Gallery.
