The Tenerife Symphony Orchestra will return to the international stage on July 9 with a debut performance at Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw, featuring a program of Spanish symphonic works conducted by Pablo González.

The Tenerife Symphony Orchestra is set to reach a major milestone on July 9 with its debut at the Concertgebouw in Amsterdam. This performance marks the ensemble’s return to the international stage after a 17-year absence; their last tour abroad took place in Beijing.

This event is a key part of a broader strategy by the Cabildo de Tenerife to raise the island’s profile on the European cultural stage. Performing at one of the world’s most prestigious concert halls highlights the orchestra's artistic growth and ambition. The move comes during a period of internal stability for the Symphony, which is currently enjoying record-breaking attendance and a busy schedule of over 100 events per season.

Conducted by Pablo González, the program—titled Spanish Summer Night—blends traditional Spanish symphonic music with contemporary works. Guitarist Rafael Aguirre will join the orchestra as a soloist for Joaquín Rodrigo’s Concierto de Aranjuez. The evening will also feature Laura Vega’s Riojana, selections from Manuel de Falla’s The Three-Cornered Hat (marking the 150th anniversary of his birth), and Maurice Ravel’s Boléro.

A delegation led by Vice President Lope Afonso and Minister of Culture José Carlos Acha views this concert as a successful step in restoring the orchestra’s international presence. For the orchestra’s leadership, the performance in the Netherlands confirms their ability to meet the high standards of global venues while successfully balancing local educational work with international ambitions.
