Tenerife Symphony Orchestra Reports 11% Attendance Growth in Record-Breaking Season

The Tenerife Symphony Orchestra has wrapped up its 2025-2026 season with strong growth in both attendance and outreach. According to the Tenerife Island Council, the orchestra welcomed nearly 65,000 spectators—an 11% increase over the previous year, or about 6,600 more people. This success was driven by a busy schedule of over 90 performances, covering everything from traditional symphonic music to social and educational projects.
José Carlos Acha, the Minister of Culture, noted that these results show the orchestra is becoming a deeply integrated part of island life. Audience loyalty is also on the rise, with the number of subscribers jumping by 38%. Subscription and family concerts were particularly popular, drawing 27,200 people—a 15% increase—with several events selling out or reaching over 90% capacity.
The orchestra’s reach extended well beyond Tenerife this year, with a notable performance at Amsterdam’s Concertgebouw and a confirmed return to Madrid’s National Auditorium in 2027. Locally, the orchestra focused on accessibility through programs like "Open Music," which brings performances to social and healthcare centers, and the university series "A FULL with the Symphony." Partnerships, such as the collaboration with Titsa to help transport concertgoers, also played a key role in attracting new audiences.
The season’s activity was diverse: beyond the 27,200 subscription and family concert attendees, the orchestra reached 8,300 schoolchildren, 16,450 people at special events, and many more through chamber music and external collaborations. This approach aims to balance high-level artistry with the orchestra’s role as a vital public service.
Looking ahead, the orchestra has already announced its 2026-2027 season, titled "Freedom or Destiny," which runs from September to June. The upcoming schedule includes 18 subscription programs and 20 concerts, featuring a mix of contemporary music and international soloists.
