The Tenerife Symphony Orchestra is seeking a new manager to succeed Daniel Broncano, with applications for the two-year position open until May 12.

The Tenerife Symphony Orchestra (OST) is searching for a new manager following the resignation of Daniel Broncano on March 3. Broncano, who stepped down to return to the mainland for personal reasons, leaves behind a tenure defined by a growing subscriber base and a stronger presence for the orchestra on the national stage.

The Island Music Board (PIM) is offering an initial two-year contract, which can be renewed by mutual agreement. Candidates must have at least three years of experience managing cultural institutions, such as concert halls, opera companies, or festivals. The selection process, open until May 12, will weigh artistic proposals and professional experience at 40% each, with academic background accounting for the final 20%.

The role is vital to the future of the OST, which was founded in 1935 and has been supported by the Cabildo de Tenerife since the 1980s. The new manager will work alongside the artistic commission to oversee programming and long-term strategy for one of the island’s most important cultural institutions. During his time in the role since 2023, Broncano focused on diversifying chamber music and improving accessibility, including initiatives like free transportation for concertgoers.

A technical jury will review the applications and make a recommendation to the PIM Governing Board, which will make the final appointment. This transition comes as the orchestra continues to build on a long history of professional excellence, having been led by renowned figures such as Víctor Pablo Pérez, Lü Jia, and Michal Nesterowicz. Throughout its history, the ensemble has remained committed to serving the public while expanding its reach beyond the island.
