Tenerife Signs Valles, Pursues Chapela & Antal
CD Tenerife has signed Uruguayan forward Gastón Valles until 2028, is close to securing defender Antal on loan, and is confident of adding attacker Iván Chapela from Burgos, who is seeking release due to limited playing time.
CD Tenerife has signed Uruguayan forward Gastón Valles as a winter addition. His contract runs until June 30, 2028, though it's structured as a one-year deal with an option for two more. Valles joins from Unionistas de Salamanca, where he scored four goals in 12 matches. Tenerife is also close to securing another player, defender Antal, on loan. Antal, an U21 international, played for Andorra in the Hypermotion league (Spain's second division) during the first half of the season, though he didn't feature much.
The third player expected to join is Iván Chapela, an attacker from Burgos. Sources close to the negotiations told EL DÍA that Chapela has already asked Burgos to release him. The player feels he isn't getting enough playing time under coach Luis Miguel Ramis, especially after recovering from a serious injury. He believes a new club would help him rediscover his best form. Tenerife seems like the perfect fit, as he would rejoin coach Álvaro Cervera, who gave him his professional debut, and Manu Guill, a former teammate with whom he excelled at CD Eldense.
Chapela's high salary, reportedly around 320,000 euros, makes an amicable release appealing for Burgos. By letting him go, Burgos would save on his wages and free up funds for other transfers. Burgos's aim is for Chapela to waive the salary he's owed for the rest of this season and for the upcoming year, as his contract runs until June 30, 2027. At Tenerife, there's strong confidence that this deal will go through. Chapela has already said his goodbyes to his Burgos teammates, and coach Cervera is eagerly awaiting his arrival.
While the coach hasn't given many details, his comments suggest Chapela has agreed to this career move. It would mean a temporary step down a league until May, allowing him to regain the form he showed in Primera RFEF and the Hypermotion league. His goal is to return to the Hypermotion league with Tenerife within four or five months.
Should Burgos insist that Chapela waive all his outstanding wages and he refuses, there's a final option: Tenerife could offer Burgos future performance-based payments, allowing the transfer to proceed as a free agent signing. Tenerife has already made a small financial outlay, a symbolic 15,000 euros, to secure Gastón Valles from Unionistas CF by paying his release clause. The club's next priority is to arrange the departures of more than two players.
