Tenerife Shipyard Fixes 'Helene Julie' Critical Rudder
Emergency repairs by Tenerife Shipyards on the cargo ship 'Helene Julie's' critical servo rudder enabled the vessel to resume its grain journey to Cameroon.
Technicians from Tenerife Shipyards had to perform emergency repairs on the cargo ship 'Helene Julie' after its crew discovered a critical fault in its servo rudder, a part essential for the ship's steering and safety.
The shipyard reported that this operation allowed the Japanese-built vessel to continue its journey, transporting grain to its final destination in Douala, Cameroon.
The 'Helene Julie' had to interrupt its voyage for urgent repairs after the critical servo rudder failure was found. A team of engineers and hydraulics specialists from the island led this intervention.
The 136.4-meter-long ship, which sails under the Dutch flag, has now left the bay of Tenerife to complete its preparations before heading towards the African coast.
The shipyard highlighted that the Tenerife technicians were able to carry out this repair thanks to their training and qualification programs, which are supported by models such as Dual Vocational Training.
