Tenerife Screens 'My Wife's Ghost' Ahead of National Release
Tenerife will host an exclusive, invitation-only advance screening of María Ripoll's Spanish screwball comedy "My Wife's Ghost" on Thursday, February 19, at Multicines Tenerife, ahead of its national release.
Tenerife is getting ready for a special film event. On Thursday, February 19, at 7:00 PM, Multicines Tenerife (in the Alcampo Shopping Center, La Laguna) will host an advance screening of the comedy "My Wife's Ghost." This special showing, put together by A Contracorriente Films with help from DIARIO DE AVISOS and the Charlas de Cine Cultural Association, happens just before the film officially opens.
Since there's limited space, only those with an invitation can attend this preview. If you'd like to go, you can apply for one of the hundred invitations available. These will be given out on a first-come, first-served basis through a special registration form. Remember to bring your NIF or NIE to the cinema box office on the day to pick up your pass. The film will then be released in cinemas across the country the very next day, Friday, February 20.
"My Wife's Ghost" is directed by María Ripoll, a well-known filmmaker in Spanish cinema. She's praised for her diverse work across different genres. For this film, Ripoll delivers a screwball comedy mixed with dark and edgy humor. It delves into themes of guilt, supernatural events, and how we each see reality. The main actors are Javier Rey, Loreto Mauleón, and María Hervás, with Marco Cáceres also appearing and Macarena Gómez in a special role.
The story follows Fernando, who's living a double life – married to María while also seeing Julia. Things take a dramatic turn when Julia tells him she "accidentally" ran over María and needs his help. Overwhelmed, Fernando reports his wife missing to the police. But soon after, he starts to feel María's presence, leading him into a spiral of guilt, strange visions, and confusion about what's really happening.
This special screening at Multicines Tenerife is more than just a launch event. It also helps position "My Wife's Ghost" as one of the must-see Spanish comedies for the 2026 film season.
