Tenerife Screens Mascaro's Berlinale Winner 'El sendero azul'

TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes will screen Gabriel Mascaro's Silver Bear-winning film 'El sendero azul' from Friday to Sunday.

This week, TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes, located in Tenerife's capital, will screen 'El sendero azul' (2025), the latest film from Brazilian director Gabriel Mascaro. The movie, which won the Silver Bear Grand Jury Prize at the last Berlinale and the Young Jury Award at Seminci in Valladolid, is a significant cultural event for the island, bringing a highly acclaimed international film to audiences.

The film tells the story of a 77-year-old woman who, refusing to accept her predetermined destiny, embarks on a journey through the Amazon to find her independence. It stars Denise Weinberg, Rodrigo Santoro, and Miriam Socarrás. Screenings are scheduled from this Friday through Sunday, with a single showing each day at 7:00 PM. The film will be presented in its original Portuguese version with Spanish subtitles.

Gabriel Mascaro, born in Recife in 1983, is a prominent figure in contemporary cinema. His previous works include 'August Winds' (2014) and 'Neon Bull' (2015), which have collectively earned him nearly fifty awards at international festivals. In recognition of his artistic contributions, the Lincoln Center in New York dedicated a retrospective to his work in 2016, solidifying his position as one of the most important filmmakers of his generation.
