Tenerife’s Playa de San Juan Begins €200,000 Promenade Renovation
The Guía de Isora City Council has launched a 200,000-euro renovation project to replace the damaged wooden promenade in Playa de San Juan, Tenerife.
Work is now underway to renovate the coastline in Playa de San Juan, Tenerife. The Guía de Isora City Council has begun replacing the wooden promenade, a project expected to take one month and cost 200,000 euros.
The repairs are necessary to fix structural damage caused by salt and sun exposure, which had weakened the materials and posed a safety risk to visitors. Mayor Ana Dorta explained that the project is part of a wider plan to improve public spaces and reduce the need for frequent future repairs.
This renovation follows other recent urban improvements in the area. Last year, the 2.05 million euro remodeling of Avenida El Emigrante was completed, supported by funding from the Tenerife Cabildo and the City Council, alongside an additional 800,000 euros for updated street lighting. These projects highlight a commitment from local and island authorities to enhance the area for both residents and tourists.
In other news, the local government recently removed Balinese beds from the beach following complaints from residents. Mayor Dorta apologized for the controversy, stating that the Council’s goal is to improve the quality of the coastline, which in this instance required changing the beach’s equipment policy.
