Tenerife's only officially 100% gluten-free restaurant, Restaurante Gran Tarajal, offers a refreshed menu of traditional Canarian and new creations made with fresh, local ingredients, alongside vegan options.

Eating out can be tough for people with coeliac disease, as not every restaurant offers gluten-free choices. Thankfully, the Association of Celiacs and Gluten Sensitive individuals has put together a list of top restaurants.

Content creators @guachinchesmodernos recently checked out a gluten-free spot and shared their experience with their followers.

Restaurante Gran Tarajal, found at Camino Polo, 128, in La Orotava, is the only restaurant in Tenerife that is officially 100% gluten-free. Under new management and with a refreshed menu, it provides a diverse, safe, and welcoming dining experience for everyone.

The restaurant serves a variety of traditional Canarian dishes alongside new creations, all made with fresh, local ingredients and absolutely no gluten. They also offer vegan options, making their high-quality food accessible to more people.

The restaurant's history goes back to 1932 when Doña Felicia and Don Isabelino opened the Gran Tarajal tavern. Later, the business was passed to Daña Aurelia, and then to the current owners who are continuing the family tradition through their dedication and modern approach.

In 1998, the establishment became a restaurant, keeping its traditional feel and commitment to quality. Gran Tarajal remains a leading name in local food, known for its friendly atmosphere.

Some of their standout dishes, all handmade and gluten-free, include a warm mushroom and shrimp salad, beef tenderloin with mustard sauce, classic gofio escaldón, and cheese croquettes.

The restaurant is open from Wednesday to Sunday, from 12:30 PM to 5:00 PM. On Fridays and Saturdays, they stay open later until 10:30 PM. They are closed on Mondays and Tuesdays to give their staff a break.
