Tenerife’s Museum of Nature and Archaeology has launched the 13th edition of Naturajazz, a free festival series that pairs international live jazz performances with an exhibition of award-winning biodiversity photography.

Tenerife’s Museum of Nature and Archaeology (MUNA) is once again bridging the gap between science and art with the 13th edition of Naturajazz. This popular event, a staple of the island’s cultural calendar, combines live jazz performances with stunning photography of global biodiversity.

This year’s festival has a truly international feel, featuring artists from Ivory Coast, Morocco, the Netherlands, Belgium, Germany, Senegal, and Brazil, alongside talented musicians from the Canary Islands.

Concerts will be held on Thursdays and Fridays at 8:00 p.m. Admission is free, though space is limited. The series kicks off this Friday with John Kyffy et les Kyffyz. Other highlights include the Aziz Ozouss & Marmoucha Orchestra on the 13th, as well as performances by the Paco Díaz Quartet, the Vladimir Torres Quintet, the Christian Cabrera Quintet, and the FlamenKora project. You can find the full schedule on the festival’s official website.

In addition to the music, the festival has announced the winners of its photography contest. Eleven projects focusing on land and marine ecosystems were recognized, with the top prize going to Manuel Juan Arechavaleta for his work, Small Animals. Great Stories, which scored 95 points in the Terrestrial Canary Islands category.

At the launch, José Carlos Acha, the island’s Minister of Culture, Museums, and Sports, highlighted the importance of Naturajazz in raising environmental awareness. By using music and photography to showcase our natural world, the event reinforces the museum’s role as a space for both art and education.
