Makika&Co, a family-run pastry shop in Tenerife, blends French baking traditions with local Canarian flavors in a historic 18th-century setting.

French pastries are famous around the world for their classic recipes, skilled techniques, and delicate flavors. They've made pastry into a true art form, inspiring bakers everywhere.

In Tenerife, one of the Canary Islands, there's a special place called Makika&Co. This family-run pastry shop and café opened in February 2016 and has become a favorite in San Cristóbal de la Laguna. People love it for its delicious French treats, all made fresh in their own kitchen.

Makika&Co is a great spot to start your day. They serve breakfast until 1:00 p.m., with their amazing homemade toast being the star of the show. You can choose from classic toppings or try something more creative.

From lunchtime on, they offer a selection of salads, appetizers, and main courses – perfect if you want a light but tasty homemade meal.

All day long, you can enjoy their French-style pastries and cakes, as well as savory options like cheese-filled "payés," quiches, and sandwiches. You can even customize your order with extra ingredients for a small additional cost.

If you're looking for something healthier, try their Yogurt Bowl (with banana, seasonal fruit, peanut butter, granola, and chocolate) or the Yogurt Parfait (yogurt with strawberry jam and granola).

Coffee is another highlight here. They use specialty coffee beans roasted on La Palma by El Café de Don Manuel, ensuring a rich and flavorful cup.

For a sweet treat, try one of their milkshakes – perfect with a pastry! They also offer breakfast delivery with three different menus, available only on Tenerife.

You can also order custom-made cakes for special occasions. Just order 48 hours in advance and pick it up at the shop.

While Makika&Co is known for its French pastries, they also have a Canarian twist. Their popular "La Canaria" toast pays tribute to the local flavors of the Canary Islands.

It features sourdough bread with Teror chorizo, Canarian smoked cheese, a touch of guarapo syrup from La Palma, and a sprinkle of gofio (a local grain). It's a delicious combination that showcases the island's unique flavors.

You'll find Makika&Co at Calle Juan, 15, in the heart of San Cristóbal de La Laguna's historic center. It's located in an old 18th-century house with a beautiful Canarian patio filled with plants – a perfect place to relax and enjoy a French-style pastry.

Makika&Co is open from Tuesday to Saturday, 9:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m. They're closed on Sundays and Mondays.
