The Librería del Cabildo in Tenerife has reopened after a five-year closure, launching a new creative writing workshop series as part of its mission to become a central hub for the island's literary community.

The Librería del Cabildo reopened on April 30 after being closed for more than five years, marking a significant step in the island's cultural revival. Managed by the public entity Ideco under the supervision of the Ministry of Culture, Museums and Sports, the bookstore aims to become a central hub for literary education in Tenerife.

The bookstore’s first project is a weekly creative writing course titled "The Magic of Letters," led by author Víctor Conde. Running until June 3, the workshop focuses on hands-on practice rather than abstract theory. Participants will write their own manuscripts, which will then be reviewed and discussed by the group during sessions held from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

The curriculum covers essential writing skills, including character development, dialogue techniques for both short and long-form stories, and an introduction to the publishing industry. These workshops provide practical tools that are often missing from traditional education, helping to support and professionalize local writers.

Those interested in attending can reserve a spot by emailing info@libreriadelcabildo.net, though space is limited. By hosting these programs, the Cabildo de Tenerife hopes to restore the bookstore as a vital landmark for the island’s intellectual community.
