Tenerife’s Fuera de Campo Film Conference Highlights Ibero-American Cinema with Cannes-Awarded Talent
The sixth edition of the Fuera de Campo Film Conference at TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes features award-winning Ibero-American filmmakers leading workshops and discussions on the creative process.
The sixth edition of the Fuera de Campo Film Conference at TEA Tenerife Espacio de las Artes has become a key event for exploring contemporary Ibero-American cinema. This year’s program features award-winning filmmakers from the Cannes Film Festival leading a series of free workshops designed to break down the creative process.
The event is structured around two masterclasses and a central debate. On Tuesday, Chilean filmmaker Diego Céspedes kicks off the program with a workshop on developing a personal cinematic style, focusing on the connection between memory and reality. His session includes a screening of La misteriosa mirada del flamenco (2025)—a Jury Prize winner at Cannes and a Goya Award nominee—with commentary from sales agent Jorge Blanch.
On Thursday, Colombian director Simón Mesa Soto will lead a session on creative autonomy and finding one's artistic voice. He will discuss his film Un poeta (2025), which has earned acclaim at Cannes and San Sebastián and received a nomination for the Spanish Academy Awards. This discussion will be moderated by Jose Alayón, director of the Fuera de Campo Film School.
The program also highlights local talent with Wednesday’s round table, Creators of Our Land. Silvia Navarro, Daniasa M. Curbelo, Alba Gil Aceytuno, and Lilia Ana will discuss how the Canary Islands shape artistic identity and inspiration. The day concludes with a screening of Nuestra tierra (2026) by Argentine filmmaker Lucrecia Martel. Martel, a major figure in modern cinema, will join attendees for a virtual Q&A moderated by critic Miquel Escudero. By bringing these voices together, the conference aims to foster direct, meaningful dialogue between filmmakers and the public.
