In Tenerife, phylloxera is under control, with only 65 plots affected in the "zero zone," and the harvest is proceeding as planned, while local authorities are preparing a support plan for viticulture.

Valentin Gonzalez, the agricultural advisor in Tenerife, reported that the phylloxera situation on the island is under control. They have already inspected over 4,000 plots and found infestations in only 65 locations. All of them are in the Tacoronte-Acentejo-La Orotava area, which is referred to as the "zero zone."

Gonzalez also discussed the progress of the harvest in various wine-growing regions of Tenerife. According to him, the harvest in Valle de Güímar is almost complete, in other areas more than half of the grapes have already been harvested, and Tacoronte-Acentejo is slightly behind but will catch up soon.

Currently, 50 specialists are working in the fields across the island to control the pest. Gonzalez noted that, fortunately, phylloxera is so far limited to only one area of the island.

In addition, he announced that local authorities are planning to present a support plan for viticulture and winemaking for the coming years. This plan will include financial assistance, technical support, and an information campaign.
