Tenerife's Coastline Marred by Decades-Old Unfinished Buildings
Tenerife's scenic coastline is marred by unfinished, decades-old buildings like the "mamotreto de Añaza" and "the skeleton" hotel, which not only spoil the views but also pose safety risks.
Tenerife's coastline is truly stunning, with beautiful beaches, secluded coves, dramatic rock pools, and towering cliffs. The scenery changes across the island, but most of it offers breathtaking views.
However, some man-made structures spoil this otherwise perfect picture. One such example is the "mamotreto de Añaza," a half-finished building on the coast of Santa Cruz. Construction started over 50 years ago, and it's expected to be torn down in the next couple of years.
This isn't the only eyesore. Another unfinished building, known as "the skeleton," mars the northern coast in La Matanza de Acentejo.
This imposing structure completely ruins the natural beauty of La Matanza's coastline. Content creator @guaripetacamper shared a video with aerial shots of the site, calling it "an icon of the island's tourist ruins."
He also highlighted that its neglected state poses a safety risk, with landslides and falling debris reported in recent years.
"The skeleton" was originally intended to be a hotel in the 1970s. However, its two 15-story buildings were never completed. The site covers a vast area of 183,000 square meters.
