The iconic Auditorio de Tenerife has been featured in the first promotional teaser for the upcoming Lionsgate thriller Day Drinker, further cementing the Canary Islands' status as a premier global filming destination.

The Canary Islands have reached a new milestone in their journey to becoming a world-class film destination. The iconic Auditorio de Tenerife, designed by Santiago Calatrava, is featured in the first promotional teaser for Day Drinker, an upcoming Lionsgate film directed by Marc Webb.

This appearance is more than just a cameo; it highlights the auditorium as a key asset for the global entertainment industry. Since opening in 2003, the building’s striking architecture has hosted everything from the Rambo franchise and Doctor Who to music videos for bands like The Strokes. Its continued popularity with major American production companies proves that Tenerife is a top choice for high-budget filming.

Day Drinker—which will be released in the U.S. on March 26, 2027, and in Spain as Sed de sangre on April 23—marks a reunion for stars Johnny Depp and Penélope Cruz. Written by Zach Dean, the thriller follows a yacht bartender (Madelyn Cline) who meets an enigmatic passenger (Depp), leading to a dangerous web of crime where Cruz’s character plays a pivotal role.

The film features a diverse international cast, including Spanish actors Juan Diego Botto, Arón Piper, Manu Ríos, and Javier Botet. Scenes filmed in Tenerife’s capital in 2025 are now part of Lionsgate’s marketing campaign, with the teaser released on September 24 clearly showcasing the auditorium’s rear facade. By securing a spot in this major project, the venue continues to solidify its reputation as a go-to location for action and suspense cinema.
