The recent failure at the Ricasa transformer station in Guargacho has highlighted the vulnerability of Tenerife’s power grid during extreme heat. As reported by Diario de Avisos, the incident left nearly 4,000 homes in Arona and San Miguel de Abona without electricity last Thursday evening. The fire, which spread from the transformer to nearby wiring, required an extensive 17-hour emergency response. To restore power, the utility company deployed mobile generators throughout Friday.
