The Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the DISA Foundation donated €58,980 to three local charities, funded by their 31st Christmas Concert and an extra contribution.

On Thursday, the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and the DISA Foundation announced they have given €58,980 to three local charities. The money, which came from the 31st Christmas Concert of Ports of Tenerife and an extra donation from the DISA Foundation, will go to the Pequeño Valiente Canarian Foundation, the Tenerife Association for Trisomy 21, and the Little Sisters of the Abandoned Elderly.

This donation highlights a successful partnership between public and private groups, showing how they can work together for social good. They use popular cultural events, like the Christmas Concert, as a way to support important causes. Now in its thirty-first year, the Christmas Concert has become an annual tradition that blends cultural entertainment with a strong commitment to helping the community.

During the event, Pedro Suárez, president of the Port Authority of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, explained that ports aim to do more than just handle trade and logistics. He said they also want to contribute to the social and human well-being of the community. Suárez also stressed the importance of recognizing the vital work these organizations do. He noted that while financial help is important, it's just one way to show appreciation for their hard daily efforts.

Sara Mateos, director of the DISA Foundation, added that the Christmas Concert successfully combines high-quality culture with deep social involvement. Mateos highlighted the careful process of choosing the charities, acknowledging the crucial work they do directly with vulnerable people. She emphasized how their actions help society move forward.

Those present at the handover ceremony included Pedro Suárez and Sara Mateos, along with José Juan Jerez, president of the Pequeño Valiente Foundation; Jennifer Jerez Sánchez, managing director of the Tenerife Association for Trisomy 21; and Reverend Mother Sister Modesta Durán, representing the Little Sisters of the Abandoned Elderly.
