Tenerife police arrested ten people and seized over 1.2 million euros worth of counterfeit goods from 14 stalls at Los Verdes market in Los Cristianos.

Police in Tenerife have arrested ten people for selling fake goods at 14 stalls in the 'Los Verdes' market in Los Cristianos, Arona. All those arrested were in charge of stalls selling these counterfeit items.

The investigation began after several brands complained to the police. They reported that fake products, using their logos without permission, were being sold illegally in markets in the south of the island.

Police then confirmed that several stalls in the market were indeed selling fake clothes and other items. This led to a police operation where officers raided different stalls and vehicles simultaneously, with help from experts representing the affected brands.

The operation resulted in a large number of fake clothes and accessories being seized. These items copied well-known, prestigious brands. If these seized items had been genuine, their market value would be an estimated 1,243,560 euros.

The ten people arrested were all in charge of the stalls where the fake products were sold. They have been charged with crimes related to industrial property – essentially, selling counterfeit goods. After appearing before a judge, they were released but still face charges.
