Tenerife Police Resolve Parental Abduction, Father Arrested
Tenerife police, acting on a court order in a parental abduction case, located two children, returned them to their mother, and arrested their father.
Police in the Canary Islands, specifically a unit dealing with children and families, have found two children in Tenerife and returned them to their mother. This action followed an order from a court in Santa Cruz de Tenerife, which was investigating a possible case of parental abduction.
The case started when the mother, who has legal custody of the children, reported that the father would not return them, despite court orders. This information comes from the Ministry of Presidency, Public Administrations, Justice, and Security.
After an investigation, officers found the children at their father's home. The Ministry added in a statement that the police handled the situation with great care, always putting the children's well-being first.
Thanks to police mediation, the father agreed to hand the children over willingly, which helped prevent any tension or emotional distress.
Once the children were safe, officers contacted the mother, who traveled quickly from another island to pick them up.
The handover took place under police supervision and safely.
Afterward, the father was arrested because there was a warrant for his arrest issued by a court in La Laguna.
Following his arrest, he was brought before the court. Both the court that initiated the intervention and the children's division of the Provincial Prosecutor's Office in Santa Cruz de Tenerife were informed.
