Tenerife Police Launch Mobile ID Unit
Tenerife's National Police have launched the VIDOC mobile unit, enabling residents in towns without permanent offices to obtain DNI and passports in a single, quick visit.
The National Police in Tenerife has launched a new mobile unit called VIDOC (Integral Documentation Vehicle). This unit aims to make it easier and quicker for people in towns without a permanent office to get their National Identity Documents (DNI) and passports.
Police say the VIDOC unit allows the entire process to be completed in a single visit. This is because it's equipped with all the same technology as a regular office, including full issuance stations, biometric capture devices, printing equipment, and a Document Update Point.
Thanks to this technology, people can get their DNI or passport straight away, without waiting or having to come back another day.
Before this, in towns without a documentation office, the process involved three steps and two separate trips. People had to visit a police station to provide their details and have the document created, and then make a second trip to pick it up.
The police explain that this new unit replaces the old system with a much quicker one. It saves time, allows more people to be served, and generally improves the quality of public service.
Around 22 towns on the island will soon benefit from this service. This means DNI and passport services will be available closer to home for people who previously had to travel to get them.
