Police in Tenerife arrested a suspect, seized 900 grams of heroin and 2,000 euros, and shut down a drug dealing operation active in San Cristóbal de La Laguna following a multi-week investigation.

Police in Tenerife have shut down a heroin dealing operation that was active in the San Matías and Taco neighborhoods of San Cristóbal de La Laguna. During the operation, officers arrested the main suspect, who is accused of drug trafficking. They also seized 900 grams of heroin and 2,000 euros in cash.

This action followed a several-week investigation. Police began looking into the matter after noticing ongoing drug sales in that part of the metropolitan area.

The National Police stated that the investigation started when officers received information that someone might be regularly selling heroin in Taco, a densely populated part of the municipality.

Following this tip, police launched extensive surveillance operations. Their goal was to confirm the suspect's activities and gather enough evidence to identify and arrest them.

During their observations, investigators confirmed that the suspected dealer used various methods for transactions, constantly changing his approach to avoid being caught by police.

Officers noted that sometimes sales happened openly on the street. Other times, the suspect used a more complex method.

Police reported that the suspect would pick up buyers in his car, drive to a different location, and complete the sale inside the vehicle. Afterwards, he would drop off clients at a different spot from where they were initially picked up. This tactic was designed to make police surveillance harder and reduce the chance of being caught during a deal.

Police sources explained that this way of operating is common among active drug dealers, as it allows them to stay mobile and be more discreet.

Once enough evidence was collected, the National Police asked the court for a warrant to search the suspect's home.

A K9 Unit from the Local Police of Santa Cruz de Tenerife, trained to find drugs, assisted in the operation. During the search, officers found 900 grams of heroin – a significant amount given its potential impact on the illegal market – and 2,000 euros in cash, believed to be from drug sales.

The main suspect was arrested during the raid and brought before the court on suspicion of drug trafficking.

After the court appearance, the judge ordered the suspect to be held in prison, citing the seriousness of the charges and the amount of drugs seized.

The National Police highlighted that operations like this are part of their ongoing efforts to fight drug trafficking and related crime. Their goal is to improve public safety and lessen the impact of these activities in local communities.
