Southern Tenerife police arrested approximately ten individuals suspected of selling counterfeit luxury goods valued at nearly one million euros after complaints from major brands and local businesses.

Last Wednesday, the National Police arrested around ten people suspected of selling fake products from well-known brands in shops in the main tourist area of Southern Tenerife.

Police seized a large number of items that looked like they were from famous luxury brands. If these items had been real, they would have been worth nearly one million euros.

The operation was carried out by officers from the Judicial Police Brigade of the National Police in Southern Tenerife.

This action started after companies whose brands were being copied filed complaints. Other local businesses also reported being negatively affected by these fake goods.

Police focused their attention on shops in areas like the Puerto Colón shopping center, near Palmeras del Sur-San Eugenio in Costa Adeje, and along Avenida de Las Américas, often called the "Golden Mile," which is known for its shops, restaurants, and hotels catering to wealthy customers.

During the raids, police were accompanied by a lawyer and an expert in commercial brands. The expert examined each batch of goods to confirm if they were counterfeit.

Among the items found in the shops were handbags, t-shirts, sportswear, and wallets featuring logos of famous international brands.

The individuals arrested have since been released and are currently under investigation. They include people of Indian, Chinese, and Moroccan nationality, some of whom are Spanish citizens.

Major brands suffer significant financial losses due to the sale of counterfeit products. Because of this, they file complaints and provide expert reports to the authorities.
