Tenerife Park After-Hours: Wanted Man Arrested, Drugs, Knife Seized
Police in Santa Cruz de Tenerife arrested a wanted individual, found drugs and a knife, and towed vehicles after responding to an early morning report of people illegally entering Las Mesas park, where two underage girls were also found.
Police in Santa Cruz de Tenerife responded early this morning to an incident at Las Mesas park. This followed a report from the 1-1-2 emergency center, stating that several people had entered the park after hours. They had arrived in three vehicles and climbed over the fences.
Four police units, including officers and a K9 team, were sent to the scene and confirmed the report. After identifying everyone, they arrested one person, P.A.C.A., who was wanted by a criminal court in Madrid.
During the operation, officers found a large knife on one person. The K9 unit also detected various amounts of drugs.
Police also found two underage girls. The parent of one of them had to be contacted.
When officers arrived, they found a car parked at the park entrance with two passengers inside, but no driver. They called a tow truck for the car. One of the passengers in this vehicle was carrying the knife and some hashish, and police documented all these findings.
Inside the park, officers found two more vehicles. One of these cars had no mandatory insurance, so it was also towed.
Police asked everyone to get out of the vehicles for identification and a search. They confirmed one person was a minor, and her mother was contacted to pick her up. The other teenager was with a family member.
The arrested person was taken to the police station. All necessary reports were completed, and the park was cleared and closed again.
The City Council's Security Department reminds everyone that Las Mesas park is open from 8 AM to 9 PM from April to October. From November to March, it's open from 8 AM to 7 PM. Being in the park outside these hours can lead to fines.
