Tenerife Noir Tickets On Sale for Watchmen, The Shadow Anniversaries
Tickets are now on sale for the 11th Tenerife Noir festival's main events on March 7-8, celebrating the 40th anniversaries of 'Watchmen' and 'The Shadow' with film screenings, discussions, and autograph sessions featuring guests like David Hayter, Howard Chaykin, and John Higgins.
Tickets are now on sale for the main events at the Tenerife Noir festival. This year marks the festival's eleventh edition, and it's becoming a major event for fans of noir stories and graphic novels. It celebrates two big anniversaries in comic book history: the 40th anniversary of 'Watchmen', the famous work by Alan Moore, Dave Gibbons, and John Higgins, and 'The Shadow: Blood & Judgment', created by Howard Chaykin.
Tenerife's capital will be a global hub for comics and cinema on March 7 and 8. The schedule features two 'From Panels to Screen' events. These will include film screenings (in their original language with subtitles) followed by discussions with the guest authors. On March 7, the focus will be on 'The Shadow'. On March 8, it's 'Watchmen's' turn, with a discussion titled 'Who watches the watchmen?'. You must attend these sessions to get access to the book signings afterwards.
Autograph sessions will be held at the CajaCanarias Conference Room in Santa Cruz de Tenerife. To keep things organized, the festival has set up a system with limited spaces and specific time slots. Each person can bring up to two items – like comics, video games, or Blu-rays – for the creators to sign. It's important to note that you can only attend these signings if you've already bought a ticket for the film screenings and discussions.
Leading up to these events, the Cine+Cómics Foundation (at San Clemente street, 35) will open an exhibition called 'Femme Fatale, the gaze of Howard Chaykin' on March 5. Curated by the Canary Cine+Cómics Foundation, this exhibition explores the style and storytelling of one of the most influential authors in comics. Francisco Pomares, the Foundation's director, and Alejandro Martín, director of Tenerife Noir, will be at the opening. The exhibition runs until March 14, further establishing the island as a key place where comics and cinema meet.
With guests like David Hayter (known for 'Metal Gear Solid' and writing 'X-Men'), alongside the legendary Chaykin and Higgins, Tenerife Noir is boosting its reputation on the global calendar of cult events. The festival receives support from several organizations, including the Ministry of Culture, the Government of the Canary Islands, the Cabildo de Tenerife, and the city councils of Santa Cruz de Tenerife and La Laguna. It also gets help from the University of La Laguna and private groups like the CajaCanarias Foundation and the DISA Foundation.
