Tenerife Named 'Nearby Paradise' at Inaugural ELLE Travel Awards
Tenerife has been named a "Nearby Paradise" at the inaugural ELLE Travel Awards, while The Ritz-Carlton Tenerife, Abama received the "Lost in Vacation" honor for its excellence in hospitality.
Tenerife has made a strong impression at the inaugural ELLE Travel Awards, cementing its status as a leading destination in the tourism industry. The island was honored with the "Nearby Paradise" award, a category recognizing local destinations that offer a unique and competitive experience.
Dimple Melwani, CEO of Tenerife Tourism, accepted the award in Madrid. The jury of industry experts highlighted the island’s diverse appeal, noting its blend of historical heritage, local gastronomy, and natural ecosystems. A key factor in the decision was the geological significance of Teide National Park, which has been a UNESCO World Heritage site for nearly 20 years.
The island’s success continued into the hospitality sector, with The Ritz-Carlton Tenerife, Abama in Guía de Isora winning the "Lost in Vacation" award. This category recognizes hotels that excel at providing guests with a perfect environment for relaxation and well-being.
The awards, organized by Hearst España, featured 16 categories covering everything from sustainability and gastronomy to family and business travel. Other notable winners included Paradisus Salinas Lanzarote, which was recognized in the "Masterpiece" category, alongside international destinations like Angola and luxury hotels such as the Four Seasons in Madrid.
This recognition reaffirms Tenerife’s commitment to high-quality tourism. As the travel industry shifts its focus toward unique, experience-driven trips in the post-pandemic era, these awards highlight the island’s growing influence as a top-tier destination.
