Tenerife Music Festival Cancels Opening Day Due to Papal Visit Security Protocols
The Tenerife Music Festival cancelled its opening day due to strict security protocols surrounding a high-profile institutional visit, though organizers confirmed the event will resume as scheduled on Saturday.
Major events in the Canary Islands faced significant disruption this week after the first day of the Tenerife Music Festival was cancelled. The decision followed the activation of the Canary Islands’ emergency protection plan (PLATECA) due to the visit of Pope Leo XIV, forcing organizers to adjust their plans for the rest of the festival.
The cancellation directly affected Friday’s concerts, which were set to feature Rels B, Nathy Peluso, and El Arrebato. Because this was an unavoidable situation, the promoters have announced that ticket holders can now explore various options for their tickets, in line with standard consumer regulations.
Despite these security restrictions, organizers have confirmed that the festival will continue as planned on Saturday, July 13. The lineup remains unchanged, featuring headliners Iván Ferreiro, Pablo Alborán, Camilo, and Ana Mena, along with performances by Tay de León and DJ Sammyto. This situation highlights the difficulty of balancing large-scale public events with the strict security protocols required for high-profile institutional visits.
